Firewheel is a short-lived perennial or annual flowering subshrub in the sunflower family. Gaillardia pulchella is scientific name of Firewheel. There are different species of this plant. It is also called Indian blanket flower or sundance. This plant is native to the United States.

Its flowers have the centre of brownish or reddish purple disc or sometimes yellow and fringe of ray flowers. Its petals can be orange, red or reddish brown. Usually, these flowers are yellow at the tip with the red base. The plant grows up to around 2 feet tall in height.

It attracts the wide variety of butterfly and insects because it is a nectar plant.

It is used for the ornamental purpose. and it has medicinal properties too.
